Development Update!

 

Good Monday, everyone!

The wait is almost over— Out of Puberty Early Access is dropping later today! I can’t wait for some of you to get your hands on the game and let me know what you think. Your feedback is crucial in shaping the game, so I’m looking forward to hearing from you!

🛠 What Have I Been Working On?

This past week has been focused primarily on coding in all the scenes I had prepared. There were a lot of them, which is great—but it also meant I didn’t have as much time to create new scenes. That will be my focus moving forward!

But even without new scenes, plenty of work was done behind the scenes (pun intended). Here’s a breakdown of what’s been accomplished:

⚙️ Technical Improvements

File Size Optimization:

Out of curiosity, I checked how large the game would be without compression—turns out, it would be massive:

Original PNG images: 3.8GB

Original MP4 animations: 243MB

Total uncompressed size: ~4GB

Luckily, I convert all images to WebP and animations to WebM, reducing file sizes by 70-80% while maintaining quality. The game remains lightweight without sacrificing visuals!

In-Game Changelog Screen:

A new Changelog screen has been added to the in-game menu! You can now check the latest updates and improvements directly within the game.

Time Progression Fix:

Previously, after clubbing with Mica, the game skipped ahead to afternoon after sleeping—this has now been fixed. The player will now wake up in the morning as intended. - Solved

🎮 Gameplay Updates

Stat Tracking Adjustments:

Went through multiple scenes to ensure Pearl’s actions properly affect her stats.

There are a lot of scenes, so I may have missed some—please check your stats screen and let me know if values don’t update after certain events!

📖 New Scenes Added

✅ Avoidable Scene – Walking Home Alone After Clubbing

Pearl may encounter a shady character if walking home alone.

The scene is completely avoidable—there are two ways to opt out for players who prefer not to see it.

Features 3 scenes with 14 animations for Level 0.

✅ Step-Father Club Scene

Players now have the option to call Step-Father for a ride home after clubbing.

1 scene available for Level 0.

✅ Park Date with Eric

Two new date scenes with Eric at the park!

Features 12 animations.
