Development Update!

 šŸŒŸ Good Monday, everyone! 🌟

Wow, it’s only been 2 days since the release of Out of Puberty: Reimagined, and I’m already feeling a mix of excitement and overwhelm (in the best way possible!). The game has reached milestones I never even dreamed of, and it’s all thanks to YOU. Whether you’ve been here from the start, following my rambles, or supporting me financially, I’m truly humbled by your kindness and enthusiasm. Every time I think about it, it blows my mind. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

If you haven’t checked it out yet, the latest release is available on itch.io:

šŸ‘‰ Out of Puberty: Reimagined

Now, let’s dive into the updates, starting with… well, my shame. šŸ˜…

šŸ› Bug Fixes: Issues and Solutions

I thought I was releasing a polished version—I tested it, played it, and felt confident. But I made a rookie mistake: I didn’t test the distributed version as thoroughly as I should have. For context, there are two environments for the game:

Staging Environment: This is where I code, test, and build the game daily.

Product Environment: This is the final version that gets distributed to you.

Unfortunately, some bugs slipped through from staging to product, and I’m here to make it right. Here’s what’s been fixed:

Fairy in the Mountains Glitch: Players reported an error about a missing label when trying to access the Fairy. Turns out, Ren’Py sometimes leaves traces of deleted files that overwrite new code. After some detective work, I found and removed the leftover file, and the issue is now resolved!

Gallery Glitch: Visiting the Gallery and then leaving would cause it to glitch over scenes. This has been fixed, and the Gallery now works seamlessly.

Walkthrough Accuracy: The Walkthrough on Pearl’s PC is a handy tool, but the corruption points listed didn’t always match what was needed to trigger events. I’ve updated it to reflect the correct values, so it’s now 100% accurate. (Don’t worry—the quests themselves were coded correctly; it was just the Walkthrough that needed tweaking!)

Valentine’s Special Glitch: A grammatical mistake in the code caused issues with the Step-Father’s Valentine’s Special scene. That’s been fixed, and the scene now works perfectly.

Wallet Save Issue: This one’s tricky and still being worked on. If you deposit or withdraw money, save right after, and then reload, the money reverts to its previous state. The money isn’t lost—it’s still in the game—but I understand how annoying this can be, especially with larger amounts. I’m working on a fix, so bear with me!

✨ Quality Improvements

While fixing bugs, I also made some small but meaningful improvements to the game:

Wallet Clarity: The Wallet now properly reflects your actions. For example, withdrawing from savings into the wallet used to say ā€œdepositingā€ā€”this has been corrected. Now, it’ll clearly say ā€œwithdrawā€ or ā€œdeposit.ā€

Step-Father Level 1 Scene: This scene was prepared but accidentally left out of the code. I’ve now implemented it, and it’ll be available in the next update.

šŸ—³ļø Polls Are Open!

Big news from yesterday: the Community Polls are live! This is your chance to shape the future of Out of Puberty. You have until Wednesday to vote, so don’t miss out:

šŸ‘‰ Community Poll: Jobs / World Scenes

šŸ‘‰ Community Poll: Character Focus

Your voice matters, and I can’t wait to see what you choose!

šŸš€ What’s Coming Next

Here’s a sneak peek at what’s definitely planned for the next update:

Modeling Job: The introduction to the new character is complete, and the map for the Modeling job is ready. I’ll be working on Level 0 and Level 1 scenes for this job, so get ready for some glamorous (and maybe a little spicy) moments with Pearl!

Yogi (Step-Father): Yogi will be getting more scenes in Pearl Level 1 to further his story. Don’t worry—he’s not being left out!

Depending on the poll results, I’ll also be working on the options you choose. Your feedback will directly shape the next update!

ā¤ļø Final Thoughts

Thank you all for your patience, support, and feedback. If you encounter any other bugs or have suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. My DMs are always open, and I welcome your comments!

Stay tuned for more updates next week, where I’ll have even more scenes to showcase.

With all my love,

Fluffy 🐾
